Information literacy is to be promoted at various educati onal levels in order to make learners and others information competent. As Turusheva (2009, p. 127) pointed out, information competence occurs when a person is honest in determining the size of necessary information, apply information effectively, evaluating the information and its sources critically, developing own knowledge base, using the information for ends achievements and using the information ethically. These criteria arent generally found in todays university learners and researchers and therefore they are less likely to be information literate.
